5 Night Ningaloo Escape – 8th September 2023
Our 5-night odyssey on September 8th unfurled like a vibrant chapter in Ningaloo’s underwater saga. The reef teemed with life, a symphony of swarming schools of fish, a testament to the ocean’s vitality. Trevally, snapper, buffalo bream, bullseyes, sweetlips, catfish, butterflyfish, and chromis moved in unison, creating living tapestries of colour and motion.
Amidst this underwater spectacle, turtles glided gracefully, mantas soared like underwater angels, and whales graced us with their majestic presence. Lagoon and masked rays added their elegance to the dance, while larger marble rays passed by. Sleepy wobbegongs and the elusive northern wobbegong brought a touch of mystery to our encounters. White tip and grey reef sharks patrolled the depths like guardians of the reef.
Cuttlefish and octopus, masters of disguise, amazed us with their colour-changing abilities while shipwrecks, though devoid of human life, were teeming with oceanic vibrancy, a testament to nature’s reclamation.
But the pièce de résistance was the albino leopard shark, a true marvel of nature. This rare encounter left even those who call this place home year-round in awe, a reminder that the ocean still holds secrets waiting to be unveiled.
