Scuba diving on Ningaloo Reef offers unique interactions with a huge variety of marine life.
Sail Ningaloo Scuba Diving
The easiest way to access and make the most of diving on the Ningaloo Reef is on board Shore Thing, with Sail Ningaloo!
The Sail Ningaloo dive site depths range from 6m down to 28m, with the most abundant marine life usually seen around the 8 to 12 metre range. On our regular tour departures you can expect on average 1 – 2 dives per day plus snorkelling activities. This truly is the best way to experience everything that Ningaloo Reef has to offer as we experience unrivalled interactions in the shallows too. If you want more diving, then we recommend gathering your dive buddies and charter Shore Thing for a dedicated scuba diving trip!
Underwater scuba diving interactions with sea turtles, reef sharks, stingrays and manta rays are relatively common. Schooling pelagic fish can be found on the outside of the reef and colourful schools of reef fish in the shallow depths. You won’t be disappointed with the variety of small critters you can find either, such as, nudibranchs, cuttlefish, moray eels, octopus – every trip out on the reef we see and experience something new and unique!
Scuba diving from Coral Bay offers many inner reef dive sites suitable in all weather conditions and for all skill levels. Coral coverage is excellent, particularly in the inner reef areas. Outer reef dive sites include wall dives, historic shipwrecks and reef ledges, known cleaning stations and more!!
Sail Ningaloo is one of only a couple of tour operators on the Ningaloo Reef that offers live aboard scuba diving and is able to access remote dive sites including historic shipwrecks. Mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuits (3mm & 5mm), tanks & weights are included and if you need to hire BCD & regulator, that’s easily arranged.
Exmouth Scuba Diving & Navy Pier
If you’re a scuba diver and have a couple of additional days up your sleeve after your Sail Ningaloo adventure, you might like to consider a couple of day diving options that compliment what you’ve seen on board Shore Thing.
We’d recommend the Muiron Islands day tour, access is weather dependent, however well worth taking the plunge if possible. The islands feature a beautiful array of colourful soft corals which make for a stunning backdrop to the many different species of fish & marine life inhabiting the reef.
The famous Exmouth Navy Pier is rated as one of the top ten shore based dives in the world. Due to its restricted access, the fish and marine life have remained protected and unspoiled. Common sights are reef sharks, giant groupers, schooling pelagics, nudibranchs and many more. As it is located on an active military base, access is highly regulated and tour operators access is restricted at times.
