What wildlife can I see snorkelling Ningaloo Reef?
Ningaloo Reef boasts ideal snorkelling conditions within a protected environment, ensuring a relaxing experience but also makes spotting the diverse marine life a breeze, providing unforgettable encounters on each snorkel. Imagine swimming alongside majestic marine life like manta rays, turtles, sting rays and reef sharks, and exploring small crevices for nudibranchs, moray eels and octopus. Schools of vivid butterflyfish, angelfish, and parrotfish add a splash of colour to your underwater adventure, making every snorkel a memorable experience.
From the comfort of the vessel we have every opportunity to view playful dolphins and shy dugongs as we’re making way between snorkel & dive locations. Every day is different to the last, so we can never tell what surprises we will come across. Humpback Whales can be seen in their hundreds during their annual migration along the Ningaloo coast (June – October). Humpback Whales are known for their playful acrobatics so sometimes put on a spectacular show!
Why take a live aboard snorkelling holiday?
There is nothing better than sleeping out on the reef and waking up in the morning surrounded by ocean beauty. For some lucky guests the first thing they open their eyes to is dolphins cruising by their porthole! We won’t guarantee that will happen every day, however when you live and breathe the reef for a few days you have the absolute best possible chance to witness magic happen. We never know what each day will bring and after operating tours for 15 years, each and every tour is still different to the last.
We’ll take you to snorkel sites that no one else even knows of, so you’ll never find yourself on a crowded snorkel site! We have over 50 different snorkel sites we visit throughout the season that range from 1m to 12m deep. All of our daily snorkelling activities are selected based on your skills and the conditions at the time to ensure your experience is the greatest Ningaloo can offer.
